Hi, I want to start this thread if it has not been already? so what is your lowest mintage coin? you dont have to answer if you think its personal. My lowest mintage coin is Burgers Fine Beard Pond 1874 only 695 minted. Here is a link to similar: http://www.tokencoins.com/zar02.htm I will try to get my mum to get it out of the bank vault so i can show you the pics of it
I've seen that type of question in the past and never did figure out which of mine is the lowest. Just never seemed important I guess. Sort of like asking which of your coins is the most expensive, most liked, etc. After so many years of coin collecting I just collect coins.
Either this one; 3-5 known examples. Or this one; 10 known examples with the die cracks around the date. Neither are very pretty and the (top one) apparently was a very early die state as seen by the star positioning marks between stars 7 and 8. Subsequent coins don't show them since the die was cleaned up (lapped) and continued to be used when cracks developed beneath and around the date. Take Care Ben
Postumus double sestertius, galley reverse LAETITA spelling error. None published, second known. Also, my 1873 Newfoundland half dollar, 32,000.
Hmmmm.... I have 8 or 9 (always forget which) 1864 Small Motto Two Cent Pieces. Mintage is unknown actually but I've seen estimates as low as 3000. I tend to think more though as how would I get so many? Next would be an 1883 Three Cent Nickel in ANACS AU50. Mintage of 10,609. Then an 1876 Twenty Cent Piece in high end AU. Mintage of 15,900. Also an XF 1875 Twenty Cent Piece. Mintage of 39,700. Back to Three Cent Nickels I have an 1888 with a mintage of 41,083 and 1879 with a mintae of 41,200. I'll round out the list with 5 1872 Two Cent Pieces. Mintage of 65,000. Yes, I like type coins. clembo
hmm it would be my 21 D walker with 208,000 second would be my 1928 Peace dollar with 360,649 and third would be the 21 S walker with 548,000 hopefully soon I will have the 21 P walker, which would then become second
Off the top of my head I'll say a PCGS G-4 16-D Merc, (mintage 264,000?) I imagine I have some tokens and store cards with a much lower mintage, and I'm guessing some of my Canadian Lg Cents would fall under that figure as well
My lowest mintage coin is a 1869 3 cent proof (mintage 600) and about 20 more with mintages under 10000. There are lots of very low mintage coins around with little or no demand for them.
US coins, probably an 1880 half in proof, there were 8,400 business strikes and 1355 proofs struck that year. There was a very low demand for halves from 1879-1891 resulting in very low mintages.
No doubt and a lot of "sleepers" to be had in these series. I tend to go for the business strikes myself but potential is there for all of them.
1938 Jefferson nickel proof-19,365 1807 draped bust half dollar-301,076 Nothing to impressive but it makes me happy!!!
i must say i am taken back by this question i have many coins with very low mintages but due to lack of reseach i would have to go with 20 euro monster coins that the paris mint comes out with about 40 count in mintage
Mine would be the 1994 Capital Unc. Dollar Commemorative with a mintage of 68,332 then my 1916-D Mercury Dime at 264,000.
My two are the 2000W Library of Congress bimetallic gold/plat $10 - 6,683 and The 1936 -S Columbia, SC Half Dollar Commem - 8,007
