My favourite British Commonwealth crown-sized coins are the New Hebrides 100 Francs, the South African Republic 5/- crown, the Edinburgh 5/- crown, which was struck after the Union of 1707,& the South African 5/- & 50c. crowns. What is your favourite British Commonwealth crown-sized coin?
hello aiden good to have more intrested in british coins on the board.the more the better. thats a difficult question for me, i like the first issue australian sovereigns.the australian I penny is quite un-usual too, seeing as it was made in india to be used in australia.its also very big, while the rest of the commonwealth was looking at making there small denominations smaller they brought out this big one.so for that reason alone worth mentioning. i have to say the commonwealth country that seems to have had over time the most boring coinage to me is canada, they never did anything in my opinion that was striking or memorable.i may be wrong on that but ive yet to see a nice example.Having said that the nova scotia tokens ect are very nice . british one of course is the gothic crown(what else) indian george vi crowned head coins are quite nice cant say much of the small countries and islands as i dont realy know them
of the modern commonwealth coins the australian kookuburro gets my vote opps you said crown sized in the topic nevermind
Canadian $1's are not quite the size of the British crown, but I reckon that the British 4/- piece is the closest in size to Canadian silver $1's.
"i have to say the commonwealth country that seems to have had over time the most boring coinage to me is canada, they never did anything in my opinion that was striking or memorable"., the highlander. I love Canada, one of the most beautiful places in the world. Especially during the summer months. Spend many a day at Prince Edward Island and down the eastern sea board. But since Canadian coinage was brought up, did any of you ever see the coin with the three children holding hands. Was that a real coin? It had the Queen's image as well.
never saw that andy and i love canada too infact im thinking of moving there , love the wilderness but there coins are not nice lol.ive had quite a few but now ever striking at all, very boring.
"and i love canada too infact im thinking of moving there , love the wilderness" Save your Euro's or pounds for you will get a great cash exchange. I wouldn't declare to much thru, I heard that Canada has very high taxes and be careful, most Canadians live near the U.S. border and quite a few of those end up in Florida and then you might have someone like me as a neighbor.
The 1928 45 Piastres from Cyprus is a very attractive coin.I think that it is one of the most interesting British Commonwealth crown-sized coins.
My favorite would most definitely be the first one I receive, unannounced, through the mail! While I do have a very limited British collection I am working feverously to change all that! Starting a world collection has opened my eyes and enjoying every minute of it!!!
