    Team CoinTalk,

I did a search and discovered that there never was a thread about what you thought was your coolest coin or coins.

My first choice is this 1774 DDO Dutch Ship-Shilling.

My second choice is this 1513 1/2 Tanka from India.

I am a horrible addict of overstriked coins and this is currently one of the best in my collection:

1759 2kopeks over 1755 1 kopek over 1727 5 kopeks with three dates CLEARLY visible, which is ridiciously lucky considering how much details an overstrike does to a coin. Forget double overstrike, that makes the first layer almost impossible to tell signs of.

Another one, not really a coin but something very ironic, is this one:

Soviet Union 1 ruble-dollar made from dismantled Soviet rockets.

I still have plenty more, but I will keep it here for now. :)

my coolest coin is a 1793 chain cent. I'd post pictures, but it is in a safety deposit box about 3 hours away. It was a birthday present to me when I was younger : )

They really are. My father used to be huge into collecting them, and even more so 1793 liberty caps. He had 59 of them at one time! Here's an article about it:

Wow, now that explains why prices of the liberty caps currently are at insane prices. J/k. :)

gx- that's a neat coin. Here are a couple of "Umm, Souvenirs" from my days in the Missile Field. One is a Battery Nut which is 4 5/8" and weighs 5lbs. The little key is the to the SCS module which "safed" the missile when maintenance was being performed.

Nice...there is one coin I wish I would have bought when I had the chance...it was a Fugio cent....NICE...

    Back to the question......
    Either...1794 from Guatamela (sp?)
or a 1958 D/D/D MS64RED ANACS....anybody have any idea what the value is one this???

They are cool...not my favorites but cool non-the-less.

It isn't my rarest, or my most valuable. It isn't uncommon by any measure of Morgan issues. It is easily my most beautiful coin, though. It has to be one of the very first from that die set. The mirrors and cameo just transfix me whenever I look at it.

I don't know how cool it is but here is an interesting and VERY old Greek coin. When I first saw it,I thought the obverse was a centipede. The incuse reverse, instead of the usual 4-part square,is actually a bull's head,or more accurately, skull.Semi cool maybe.

All of you have such cool coins. Well, I really like my 1896 $10 gold piece, but I also really like my Caligula As that I have. It's in pretty nice shape, and I just like the subject ;) . I would love to see those Large Cents you all have.

Wow a tripled mint mark! I'd like to own one. I'd really enjoy a picture of something like that too. :kewl:

This 1791 Hull Half Penny is my current favorite (I just got it a week ago). I've been wanting a coin from that period for some time, and I love the reverse of this coin, and the condition is really great for the age, as well as just a touch of toning.

I'll try....the D/D/D are right under each other so they won't show in the photo...you have to have a 10x to see them too good but maybe it will show at least 2 of the 3 D's...

Do you happen to have any idea of the rarity? I've never heard on one until now.

I actually think that could be partially true. I remember when my dad bought his first 1793, and he paid about 300 for it if I remember correctly, and after a while he had gobbled so many up that he was paying about 5k for each of them.

Those Indian Tankas look like the Karshapanas I posted on the "silver $9?" thread, the main difference being that yours have writing and mine have symbols taken from nature.I wonder if they're descendents from the same region?
I'll re-post the pic here for anyone who missed them.

Nope---I understand in one book that it is a R8...and another book lists it as another thing...
I only paid $15 so I don't think I'll lose :goof: ...here are the photos...

WHAT CAMEO? I see no frost?

On Morgans its not always like a proof coin...at least I don't think so...the CAMEO is not the same...its more of a frost...
See the face...see how it is darker than the field??...on a Morgan Dollar...(that coin isn't proof) there is what they call ProofLike or frosting...it makes the coin in real life look proof...it looks like CAMEO.
I think if I remember right the 1879 and 1881S morgan dollars are the ones that are most known with PL looks...that might be wrong but for some reason I have that in my mind
Here is a photo I have...(1881-S) isn't PL enough to get it listed on the slab...the REV doesn't have any frost...but this side has some NICE frost.

    Hope that helps!
