Hello everyone, Just wanted everyone to share there most unique or favorite coins not specifically made for spending. I'll share mine as an example. My first are a 1986 Dollar\Half Dollar Statue of Liberty Commemorative set. The second one is a 1975 bicentennial coin with Paul Revere on the front and probably a minute man on the back. and the third is a 1995 Elvis Presley 60th Birthday $5 Dollar Commemorative Coin from the Marshall Islands.(Wow that's a mouthful) Thank to all who share. Here are the first two...
And here is the Elvis coin. Oh if your wondering about the red coloring in the pics I was wearing a red shirt and it reflected lol.
"Most unique" is an oxymoron. If a coin is unique, there is only one. Every unique coin will be just as unique! Also, your 'unique' Statue of Liberty commemoratives have mintages around 6.5 million.
I'm not sure I have any coins not meant for spending. I do have a blank one cent planchet though, guess until it gets stamped it's not meant for spending.
Nice coins, that "Shot heard around the world" motto reminds me of that school house rock song on sat mornings in the 70's.
Yeah I probably didn't word the title correctly I just ment most coins are made for spending but with my Elvis coin it's not like I can walk into a 7-11 and say give me five dollars worth of slurpees mama thank you thank you very much then hand her the Elvis coin but thanks to all who shared thus far. Nice coin noost.
Mine was the Copper washers made in a nearby factory the exact size of a penny (cent) but I spent them all.
A pre 1982 cent struck on one of those washers would certainly be cool. Here is a Connecticut commemorative half which I will not be spending any time soon.
Nice coin I'm orignally from Groton Connecticut but don't have one of those. This is probably what they adapted the Connecticut quarter from.
I like that 1986 statue of liberty gold set as well but I only own the gold coin. Here's mine with the sellers pics, it's a beauty!!
Nice Liberty fretboard I always wanted to have the 5 dollar gold Statue of Liberty but never got around to buying one. Of course back in 1986 I was twelve and didn't have the money to buy a gold Liberty. Come to think of it I STILL don't have the money lol.
You just gave me an idea. I will try to check to see if that place that makes them still makes them. If so, get a few and try pressing a real cent on to one with a vice. I know this is a no-no but then the Mint police are not real, are they?
nice one bsshog40 wish I had one like that. Another set of non spendable coins I have are a Antique car coin collection series 1 from the Franklin Mint it's hard to take a picture cause the frame it's in glares but here goes...
