    I just got this.

I think it must be either a medal or a souvenier coin. It's in a sealed plastic wrapper markerd with the mint seal and verbage.

It has the wite house on the obverse and the seal of the prsident on the reverse.

it's a silver dollar sized round.

    Is this anything??
    thanks

Do you have a Red Book ? There was a White House commemorative dollar issued in 1992 - and a US Capitol commemorative dollar issued in 1994. Based on your description it sounds more like the Capitol commem to me.

But if it doesn't match either of those coins - then it's likely a silver round.

thanks. Since it doesn't have a date, I would think its not a commemorative coin, but since it's in the US Mint packaging, I took a shot!

    Thanks

You didn't say it was in US Mint packaging - that does make a difference. For if it is - then I would think it is likely a silver medal of some sort. That's a whole new ball game.

I only paid $0.25 at a flea market for it. I figure I had nothing to lose!

There are a significant number of similar pieces. Most are a little smaller than
a silver dollar and often have Washington DC or White House written on one
side. Most are probably souvenirs. I've not seen any 28mm ones though which
is typical of many souvenir issues.

I think I have what you are describing. It is mared Washington DC. Is it worth anything?

    They make an interesting collection.

Most appear to be from the 1950's and are mostly unidentifiable. Many are
quite common but there may be some scarcer issues. Due to limited demand,
most won't usually sell for more than a dollar or two.

Greenduck made a lot of these as did Osbourne Register. Most of of the medals
of these two companies will get at least a small premium.
