While coin roll hunting in dimes found this penny. I new to collecting but don't think this is an error. Anybody know what it was cut with? Thanks.

The cent has been damaged. It was ground down to the size of a dime.

When I was a boy, we would rub a penny on the sidewalk until it was ground to the size of a dime, then we could use it in a vending machine. This was in South Texas. We'd also use Mexican ten centavos (value .0125¢) as a quarter. We were such hoodlums!

Nah! Hoodlums didn't waste their time grinding pennies down on the sidewalk. They stole the vending machine.
