    1970 Lincoln cent is this a die chip?

    I didn't know the difference between a die chip and a cud, so I Googled it. I found this:

    "A CUD is basically a die break that occurs on the edge of the coin, so that the rim is involved. Die chips occur on other parts of the coin."

    It looks like it includes the rim, but I can't be sure, so I'll leave it to the experts. I could definitely use any education that might come from this thread.

    Kind of looks like part of the rim has been shaved and folded over.

    Looks like damage. Part of the rim has been sheared off and over.

    want a best shot...? put the penny facing the camera vertically to the lens. tilt it 10% then 25-30% both pictures in high quality THEN we can determine the real cause, until then its an opinion of a SHAVED edge

    That is called a rim burr, which was folded over during the strike.
