It must be an Israeli $20. J/K! It's just a guess, but I think someone was just having a little fun with the stamper. Chris
You can often find currency that has small stamps on them that have been through someone's hands and marked for various reasons. This one may just be playing around or perhaps someone with some affiliation to that symbol had a reason for marking the bill or many bills that they handled. The stamps I have seen are pretty hard to figure out what the characters or marks are for, language they originate from or whatever the source/reasoning maybe for it getting put there. Hold onto the note if you like, maybe you will start to notice more special markings people put on notes and create a sub-collection of stamped notes. They do present an interesting mystery to ponder. Some other examples* referring to them as 'modern chop marks'. *The thread is dated 2006 with comments by CT members, not sure what this site is, a mirror site of CT's old threads???
It's like a chop mark. The Star of David signifies that this note good for trade at Kosher deli's, meat markets and grocery stores in the US.
