    The item shown in the photo is listed on eBay as a coin (presumably Chinese).

    Does anyone knw what it is?

    It is indeed Chinese characters, but it's tough to say if it's from China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, etc. The character halfway down the right half appears to be the older style of writing "2": 貳 (listed here: http://zh-yue.wikipedia.org/wiki/2)
