The poll isn't needed and what's it worth?like it says on the back, one cent!!;);)and some die deterioration issues spend it.

I am seeing a typical copper plated zinc cent with its associated poor plating, and split plate "doubling" which has no added value on LIBERTY and the date. Worth, I cent

As mentioned, the poll is unneccesary (but I voted "What is it worth" since those were the only two options.)

Also as mentioned, this coin doesn't really have any premium over face value, so it's worth one cent.

Good conversation coin if you wish to keep it. Welcome to CT and keep up the good search. Thanks for sharing and good luck.

The 86' was a low mintage. The coin looks real nice for being a Zlincoln. What does the reverse look like? I have always stashed 86 and 86D's away. They have a nice strike and had really clean planchets besides the plating blisters.
What you are seeing as far as the doubling goes is Die deterioration doubling. Hard to see but there is a ridge ring forming around the perimeter, or Design devouring die wear.
Here is a link to what this looks like.

    Nicely informative post, P&G.

I have trouble thinking of anything they struck four and a half billion of as “low mintage”, but yeah, I guess relatively speaking, it’s less common than a lot of other zinc cents.

And true, it’s not bad looking, actually.

But it’s still just a Zincoln. If there’s no error there worth a sufficient premium, it’s just worth face value.

I guess I could see keeping it, if I collected modern Lincoln cents. But I don’t.

Boy I didn't remember the mintages too well. It was the lowest mintage up until about 1991.
For zlincolns that is. Should have left that one out. They used to hold a higher value than most of the other years around it. Doesn't seem that way anymore.

Look at the reverse. The value is right there in large letters.
