What is this I found with some nickels?

    I found this with a lot of Liberty Nickels

    That "ear" between 7:00 and 8:00 on the first photo looks like the attachment point for an electrical box punch-out. Have you checked it with a magnet?

    At those dimensions and weight, it might be a nickel that's had a lot of its actual nickel metal eaten away by acid. But my first guess is that it never was a coin of any sort.

    Not magnetic. I thought punch out too. I'm leaning toward the acid eating a nickel possibility.
