What is this green substance?

    I picked this up cheap on ebay, just not sure what the green gunk is? Any way to get rid of whatever it is? Sorry about the poor pics, I think the seller needs a new camera. :)

    I'm pretty sure that's PVC. Go find some acetone - quick !

    Have to agree with Mike on this one I do not think this is PVC I think it is verdigris also.

    Thanks Bruce but I was going strictly by the color.I really don't know the difference but if Doug sees indications of PVC..I can't argue.Is there some way to treat for both without harming the coin?

    PVC. To evenly dispersed. Acetone like Doug suggested.

    Just my opinion..

    Based on the eveness of the color, as well as the pitted look of the coin (which is typically what you see on a PVC damaged coin), I would cast my vote for pvc.

    Thats ok Mike, I just don't see it I think it is verdigris but that is my opinion others may think differently.

    Thanks for the opinions guys. I'm going to first try just dipping in some distilled water, olive oil, then move on to acetone.
