Hi All, I'm a brand new member and joined in hopes of finding out more information about coins from my parents coin collections that I've inherited. Anyway, this one is particularly strange to me.

Can anybody tell me more about this coin? It's a 1904 nickel-sized coin with what looks like a patent date on the back and a Lady Liberty bust pressed out through the front of the coin. Hope my pictures are sufficient... 00000IMG_00000_BURST20200818081332719_COVER.jpg 00100lrPORTRAIT_00100_BURST20200818073004941_COVER.jpg 00000IMG_00000_BURST20200818103734343_COVER.jpg

Thanks for any information anyone can provide...

It is a Repousee/ "pop out" coin. I collect them. Your coin was probably used a pin or some type of jewelry. Yours is great because it has the dated patent bar of which makes it more desirable to other collectors of pop out coins. I also like that it has not been cleaned to make it shiny. Do not clean/buff it to make it shiny. Here is a link to most of my pop out coins so far...link: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/repousee-coins-aka-push-outs-or-pop-outs.225062/

Very Cool! Thank you for the information. I had no idea there would be a whole following for this type of specific coin! You have some really neat examples. I really like the eagle!

You mention that it was likely for a pin or some type of jewelry. I don't see any indication that it was removed from something or anything was removed from it. Anything I should look for?

Do these have much value or is it a real niche market?

Í don't recall ever seeing anything like this. Pretty neat!

Curious, are they heated or simply a lot of pressure applied to form them?

Looks like it was created over (under?) a very nice 1904 Liberty "V" nickel.

Well when they do have a patent bar that usually means it was made into some type of jewelry. Either a pin, brooch, and sometimes used in watch fabs. They are popular with pop out coin collectors. Thee older ones bring more money. The more modern ones are cheap to buy. I would guess that your is probably worth $65-85+. Yours is nice because it has that patent bar and not cleaned.
