what is this coin worth

    NEW JERSEY BICENNTENIAL 18 KT GOLD COIN / RARE.
    it is 5/8th of an ounce. coin weight is 13 penny weights.
    MANUFACTURED BY MEDALLIC ART CO., DANBURY, CT(COMPANY NO LONGER IN BUSINESS). ONE SIDE STATES, "CROSSROADS OFTHE REVOLUTION;'' RIM OF COIN STATES - 18 KT. GOLD.
    in mint condition.

    Hello. Welcome to the forum. Your coin is a private mint example of the bicentenial of NJ. These types of coins and/or tokens usually sell at the shows for just a few dollars.

    Welcome aboard.
    If the markings are correct and it really is 18k gold, the melt value is $182.63 if it's 5/8 of a troy ounce, or $200.25 if it's 5/8 of an avoirdupois ounce. :)

    IMHO that puts the numismatic value at no more than $190-$210, although a New Jersey history freak might go a little higher. :p

    Most of these private minted items from MEDALLIC ART CO. are clad with layed gold.

    Now if the particular piece is not marked, it should be viewed by a dealer. If you can post a good pic of the item, that would help also.

    Measure the piece - both diameter & thickness. Then we can tell you if it is plated gold or solid since we already know the weight & fineness. But I'm betting on plated.
