I believe some sort of German token. I can read Nuremberg on one side.

The best I can do is a translation
    Denkmals - Monuments or Memorial
    Enthüllung - Unveiling
    Nürnberg - Sculptor
It's commemorating some Monument created by Nürnberg unveiled on September 17th, 1890

The side with the portrait says Martin Behaim - Der Seefahrer. On the other side (CoA): Denkmals-Enthüllung 17. September 1890 Nürnberg
So that would be this guy: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Behaim The page also shows the memorial mentioned on the medal.
