Hey everyone, Happy New Year! I've had this piece sitting around on a tray for at least 2 years now. Always kind of figured it was some sort of replica/souvenir token/reproduction of an older coin, very similar to the Guldengroschen/Joachimsthaler here on Numista, although the quality of the detail makes me think that it could be something better than junk. Finally got around to imaging it today, and I thought I'd share it here and ask if anyone was familiar with it and could give me more info. Weight: 35.2g Diameter: 35mm Thickness: 9mm Edge: Plain with "HR" counterstamp
Closest in size and weight, but not exact, I can find is here https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/joachimstaler-thaler-bohemia-1525-47330350 might be worth searching other bronze medals that copy the silver originals
If you look closely at the example shown in your link (and mine) they both have the same die crack on the same side (going from the L in LUDOVIC and down through the lion.) Although that one doesn't show the countermark on the edge...
This is the same image as on your medal, with the stylized X on the reverse, https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces92673.html but has a solid circle around the lion, where yours has individual elongated dots forming a circular surround. Certainly interesting and I will be keeping an eye to see if anyone, or yourself, can ID yours
