    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

The coin on the right is a nickel commemorating the Louisiana purchase. The coin on the left is one of the National Parks commemorative quarters. Unless they have an S mint mark, they are not silver. Valued at five cents and twenty five cents, respectively.

The "Peace Medal" nickel was issued in 2004 as part of the "Westward Journey" series. In all, from 2004-2006, there were five different designs issued. Also in 2004, was the "Keelboat" reverse, and in 2005, the "Bison" and "Ocean in View" reverses were issued. In 2006, the "Return to Monticello" was issued. None of them are silver. Their composition is 75% copper and 25% nickel.

The quarter is one of the "America the Beautiful" series that replaced the "States Quarters" series. These coins intended for circulation are also CuNi (clad) composition, but there are also two proof versions, one in clad and one in silver.

The nickel is only worth face value. If the quarter is a high grade, MS67-MS70 or a Proof, it may be worth some premium.
