What is this? 1798 Draped Bust Coin

    I saw this 1798 (Half Dollar?) on MyCollect Guess the Grade. What is going on with the area around the date?

    I think you have a 1798 draped bust large eagle dollar coin. looks like some kind of die clash around the date but have no clue as to what the clash is.

    It looks like a significant die break which is probably a diagnostic for a specific die variety. The coin is a bust dollar, and I remember seeing that mark before. I’ll look it up tomorrow.
