Based on what I can see it looks to be MS, kinda hard to see the (9) though. Very Nice IHC.

I am really confused. It can't be a 1853 or 1858 and be an IHC. That is a matron head and a flying eagle respectively.

I think it must be a 1863 or 8 modified or error coin. I still see an 8 more than a 3. Do you think you can get a close up pic of the date?

If it was a modified 63 or 68 then it would have a shield on the reverse. The shield was added to the reverse in 1860.

Thanks. I overlooked that just focusing on the front. So modified 59? New pics would be great.

I'm looking thru my US coin encyclopedia and it say that there where some 1858 Indian cents placed in circulation and some 1859 Indian cents with the shield also placed in circulation.

Im not 100% positive, but Ive always thought that they did make indian cents at the later part of 1858. When they were considering changing design from the flying eagle to the indian design. Could this be some sort of pattern???

    Quick Google I found this

"The designer, James B. Longacre, had designed the first of the small cents and in 1858 designed a pattern Indian head cent using his daughter, Sarah, as the model with a feathered headdress. The reverse design featured a pair of oak leaf branches tied together with a bow."
