In the past I have sold my silver on ebay but with all the fees would I be better off just going to my local coin shop or show and selling their? What is the going rate on average X face?

IME, the best way to sell junk silver is Craigslist.

No fee, no shipping costs, better prices than a dealer, and with just a bit of planning and common sense, you can do things safely and wisely.

Depends on how much you have. If you have a whole bag I would reccomend calling APMEX or Monex.

I recommend putting it in rolls and cashing it in at my bank for face value (just kidding, I saw that nice haul you got recently, congrats). I also sell lots on Craigslist. Just make sure you always meet in a public place and use common sense. Your bank may let you use some space, like in the safe deposit box rooms, or in an unused office. I usually meet at a busy gas station or fast food restaraunt. Maybe it isn't the best, but it is convenient and if I start yelling, someone will be there to look. Also, never use communications that can be traced back to your house (like your home phone if it is listed or an email address that is firstname.lastname@yahoo.com). Can't be too safe with who knows you have PM at your house. I use a generic email address and my cell phone number. I suppose someone could find out if they tried hard enough, but most of the smart criminals are going after bigger fish than me.

You should also call around to your local coin stores. One in my area is paying 20 x face right now. That is where I just sold some of mine. If I were you, I wouldn't take less than 90% of spot, which is about 18.9 x face.
