It's a strikethrough which is very common. From time to time, grease and other debris can build up in the devices and be compacted from continual striking. Somewhere along the line, it can fall away from the die onto the face of a planchet which, when struck, is left with the impression of the debris. Occasionally, the debris will remain imbedded in the planchet, and that is called a retained strikethrough, but most often, it will fall away once the coin is ejected from the coining chamber. Chris
