What is happening here on this penny one leg in R is missing

  1. So what is happening here,I don't think this could be from wear on the coin, it looks the maybe the R on the master die broke off and than angled horizontal... maybe its an die crack coming from the top of the Far leg on the U going to the bottom of the T in trust. I'm probably not correct but I promise I'm trying to learn! I have a million web pages open on multi browsers on my PC, from double doe Eddie, to copper coins, variety vista, and Coneca.

There is too much going on with that one to say anything other than post mint damage.

The die being used collected grease and metal particles and compacted into a hard mass filling the lower part of the "R" right leg and so when continued to being used, the copper couldn't flow into the blocked area and that area of the coin was flat
They seldom checked for such things, so very common. Jim
