I have a large cent that looked very interesting to me so I bought it on a whim because it was cheap and neat ha

Why is is silver and bronze? And what made the silver reverse turn that greenish color? My guess is someone silver splashed it when dipping another coin or something a while back and maybe it toned a little bit?

    What's your best guess.

    Thanks guys, Lux

My best guess is that without pics there will be no best guess.

Environmental damage? Better (and larger, not bloody thumbnails) to follow?

Whenever I try to upload higher resolution photos the site says the files are too large so I have to compress them. I can try again one second.

Peter allows very large files on this forum. Up to to 3 gigs should be fine.........

Looks like it could of been plated ay one time... then it peeled, shed, de-laminated, flaked off.

That's what I'm thinking. It was only like 10 bucks so I took a shot ha

Have you weighed the coin and measured the diameter? I would also say environmental damage judging from the pitting(?) on the reverse. The reverse surface looks odd.

I haven't, I dont own a scale and most coins I buy aren't expensive enough to merit fakes so I usually dont need one.
