What is difference between wide and narrow

Silver certificates?

I've searched, to no avail.

What exactly is the difference? Say $1 Silver Certs?

While Series 1935D $1 Silver Certificates were being issued, the back design was made about 3 mm narrower. All 1935D notes are either the wide or narrow variety.



If you look closely, you will see that the lettering is closer to the margin on the "Narrow" variety.
