I posted this in coin chat for I realize a number of folk that visit that section may not visit this one and visa versa. Since I consider this as my coin club I wanted to communicat with all of you. Ok, I joined this forum for I love collecting French gold 20 Francs. I have the entire original line in sequencial order Starting with the Napoleons and ending with the two versions of the roosters. I have been thinking about collecting mexican and latin american coins next as well as build up on my ancients. I also enjoy reading about other people's collections. To me it is more interesting then watching so called reality TV or reading gossip in a magazine. Just wanted to say that. __________________
U.S. Odd denomination and type Always a good topic. I love my odd denominations. Completed the business strike Two Cent series in unc. Now toying with the 3 Cent Nickel, 20 Cent and 3 Cent Silver to an extent. Also business strikes. I'd love those unc too but my wallet says no. Getting there on the 3 Cent Nickel. Will need the 1885 to fill out the real tough ones once I pay off the 84. As for 20 Cents I have the 1876 on layaway and will then need to locate a decent 75CC. I've always picked up type if the price was right. Love trade dollars although I only have two and very proud of my 1799 Bust Dollar. As world coins go I think the Mexican coinage is beautifull. Expecially fond of the 20 Centavos. I also like the Canadian Nickels for the variety. Have most through 1970. Still need to fill the 1925 hole but not REAL serious about this but someday..... In paper I have a nice selection of funnybacks and a huge collection of Fort Worth 295 errors. I used to handle a lot of cash and pulled the modern stuff out at face. Completed the 1996 $20 star note set this way in AU-UNC as well as the 1996 $50 star set. ANY currency error at face was always a good find. Will try and get a pic or two of some errors. Thanks for the topic Andy!
Hi Andy Wow, gold 20 Francs? What is the date range of your collection? I assume they each weigh less than an ounce? If they are near an ounce the bullion value alone must be huge!!!!!!
i colect most anything that has an interesting design. ASE's, commems, alot of our older coinage in various denomination and of course currency. I dont stick to any ONE thing. I bounce around, stick to a subject for a while, and then move on to another item. Right now i am on Web-notes, but the availability of the ones i want are getting farther and farther apart, so its getting time to move on to another item. I think, at least for the remanider of this year, i will just stick the the mints releases. If i see one that is going to be hot, i will scoop some up for resale - i really need to rebuild my coin-fund lol
yes indeed a great post. well i love to collect pretty much anything german. i have anything from german states all the way to the new euros. i like to collect other world coins too, but my main thing is german. i was first introduced to coins when i was a kid, my dad always used to take me to local coin shows at the mall and i was hooked from their on. i have a pretty large collection of german coins but a larger collection of world coins. i like to collect anything with really intricate designs. i dont collect u.s. coins as i find them boring. =)
American> Morgan Dollars (will start working on odd denominations (2, 3 & 20) when I finish my type set and also Capped Bust/Seated Liberty Halves in the future) Foreign> I'm mostly picking up good looking bullion coins (Australian Lunar Set, Canadian Silver Wolves, UK Britannias) to compliment my ASEs. May look into some Chinese Pandas in the future
Mexican coins! Is amaizing that some of these coins are extremely cheap compared to the same rarity in the US counterparts, however they are a very good investment for the Americans and Europeans are buying these and their prices are soaring. Some of their designs are just too beautiful to miss, plus all the silver circulated all over the world. Mexican coins were the dollar before the dollar. Here are some beautiful examples, I hope you guys enjoy!
