What happens if the TPG can't find your coin ?

I sent in a 1988 D reverse 89 Die 2 RDV-006 forwarded from the attributor. I gave the grader a credit card number and they proceeded. They have it marked as "shipped" on the 15th, but "finalizing" under the tracking number. Ok, I figure FedEx would have gotten it here in a week, so I called.

Well, they are looking for it.

Now, what happens if it isn't found ?

I am getting nervous here, because I don't think I will ever find another.

ANACS and they never gave me a tracking number. On my order details it said "finalizing". Now the girl at ANACS said she would call me right back just as soon as she checked the orders, but that hasn't happened.

I know they are closed now, so I guess there's nothing to do but wait and see if they call me tomorrow, or ever ?

I am betting they enclosed it with someone else' order and shipped it out to them.

Guys, I guess what I am needing to know, is, if ANACS did lose it will they replace it. And if they are supposed to replace it, how ?

I mean they have a population report of 2- AU55 which is what the one I sent they said was. I'm not sure if that means mine and one other or perhaps mine hasn't been added to the report yet ? They don't show any in a higher grade.

My wife said she thinks they lost it. And, unfortunately, she's often right. All I know is that if they did, I am gonna be sick !

It will probably show up , just take a break from worry , cause worrying is going to help either way .

  9. Good advice. Try not to worry about it until you get more info. I am sure they will make it right. TC

...try not to worry, then use NGC or PCGS next time.

PCGS doesn't attribute a lot of varieties and errors. This is one of the ones they don't yet. CONECA suggested ANACS to get the variation noted. I don't know about NGC. Not worry ? Man how am I gonna do that ? lol

No idea what will happen since it's ANACS. NGC and PCGS have rules about insurance and only ship insured. I don't know if ANACS does or not. But if the coin is truly lost then getting a replacement is out of the question, insurance would be your only option.

    I wish you luck.

Did you request images of it. I hope so. If you did and they attributed it at least you can compare your own pics with the ones they shipped you. If it is a match then make note of the ID number on the images and see what you can work out with them and your lawyer. Keep your head on your shoulders and stay cool. Worry never solved anything. It's only a coin.
I hoped you insured it to the max both ways because a coin like that has possibilities of great value. Best of Luck.

Gary, ANACS should have their copy/s of the submittal form you filled out. From that and their other paperwork there must be ID numbers for your slab. They also must keep records of what also got shipped the same day and/or time as your order. If it got mixed in with another order or orders these people can be notified. There are honest people out there so there is a great chance your coin will be recovered that way. Think positive not worst case. ANACS should co-operate fully with you and your lawyer. So should FEDEX.:thumb:

    Guys, James Wiles of CONECA attributed it and forwarded it to them in my name. I have the pics I took, but the only info I have from ANACS is this that I saved;
Item Date Mint Denom Variety Grade Shipped Date Carrier Tracking 4506275 1988 D 1C CONECA DMR-014 RDV-006. 55. 9/15/2010 FedEx Finalizing

this is from my order page.

It didn't paste exact. But it has a header then all the info is listed below each column. Item is 4506275, date 1988, mint D and so forth. Under tracking it says "finalizing".

I have bad feeling about this. Unbelievable ! I sure hope the gal calls today, but I wouldn't lay a bet on it.

Original submission form was filled out and submitted by Mr. Wiles. All I got is what was posted by ANACS on the site.

Call ANACS back now and talk to some higher up. Demand it! Don't stand for a call back. Stress your concerns in a moderate manor. Ask for more info i.e. images, slab #, date and time of shipping, what " finalizing means " , possible value of the coin, etc. Find out what they are exactly doing. Put the " onus " on them in a business like manor. Could it, if at all possible, gotten shipped to " Mr. Wiles "? etc., etc.

OK. I just got an e-mail from ANACS. They found it yesterday and shipped it !!! Still no return phone call, but who cares ? Man, they are keeping my heart rate up !

Now, I have a Fed Ex tracking # and I see that a signature is required for receipt.

They scared the **** out of me. I mean, there is no way to replace it, right ? And without public sales records who can really evaluate it accurately ? Now maybe I can get some sleep. lol

I just told my wife that it was found and shipped. Kind of a "I told you so" lol

She looked me in the eye without blinking and said "Oh, can I see it ?"

Shot me down for sure, because it's still not in my grubby paw.
