What happened with the "Name the Software" contest.

I was wondering if I may have just overlooked the results. Does anyone know if a winner has been announced?

I am thinking that guy is a fraud as he left for awhile and came back, said he had taken a vacation and slipped out the bag door after promising everything would be taken care of!! People like that are losers!!

Well just in case you hear of a new coin related software, I submitted:

1.) N.E.B.U.L.A.
or "Nebula" for short
the acronym could stand for:
Numismatic Enhance Browser Utility Library Archiver

2.) E.N.B.A.S.S.
or "Enbass" for short
the acronym could stand for:
Enhanced Numismatic Browser Archival & Sharing Software

Have any of you asked him yourself? gbroke has been around CT for a while and comes and goes, even mentioned it himself once in the contest thread!. He was even active earlier on CT today... why not post to the contest thread, PM him or leave him a visitor message instead of call him a fraud? Sheesh! :rollling:

I won't ask personally because I feel like if someone has a contest and it falls through for one reason or another, then the man or woman offering the contest should at the minimum give an explanation on their own as to what happened!! To put this into context, when you offer a contest it is expected that you are honest in what you're saying!! To offer a contest and then to simply leave with no explanation without ending the contest as you have said, speaks of your character!! Years ago character and your word meant something, have things changed that much??

 

I slrongly suspect thing have changed that much. I know there are some people who would rather slit their throats than tell you a lie. But many others whose word is not a bond and has little value. Those people do not care, either. Although I try to always give anyone the benefit of doubt, I am often disappointed. Not "meaning what you say" seems to be more today ? At least that's been my experience.

Well, his last post on the contest thread was July 9 (2-1/2 months ago) so I'm not expecting much.

And yet... have any of you posted for him in the contest thread? PM'ed the guy? or left him a visitor message? People have lives outside of CT and this forum. Sometimes work and family comes first. He's very unlikely to see THIS thread which he didn't initiate for the contest with a bunch of people in question wondering what's going on with his contest since he's likely not watching for it nor subscribed to posts here! Come on you guys... you have to approach him not sideswipe him with complaints in a different thread!

 

I'm very sorry to have to bring this up again and I honestly do not say this because I wish to argue with you nor do I feel sore over how it transpired... but I strongly disagree with you Fret and I am shocked to read this statement here after having only recently been a part of one of your contests (on another forum) which you yourself were less than forthcoming about breaking your own contest rules that you proposed for determining the winner. You declared a winner before someone posted as the correct chronological postee to be the winner of a VERY simple contest. You didn't explain when I complained and others only sided with you that it was just a contest, it was your contest and you make the rules, which apparently implies you get to break them at will and without explanation... blah blah blah. But it was all very unfortunate and less than fulfilling for the contestants you engaged, at least it was for this contestant, and maybe also for others who may have been hanging on waiting to post at the right time for the win. Like I said, I'm not trying to argue with you and apologize for having to use this reference to disagree with you since we both disagreed previously over this, but I think you get what you have coming to you if you have the nerve to do something like that then expect others to do the same for you by being honest and tending to their contests fairly and timely by posting what you have here now.

Really fret? Loser eh? Maybe you could message me if you have a problem or would like some information? Seems to me , losers are people who jump to conclusions without any sort of reasoning and bash others in public. I didn't think there were any people like you on this forum.

If you use the new software, you will see why it has taken so long. The amount of hours needed to make this was simply staggering. Not to mention, I have a very active life with a family, kids and a fulltime job.

I could have just launched the site months ago, but then I would have to deal with people like you, telling me what's missing, or it should have this... blah blah. So instead I took everything to the next level and will launch the most advanced web based coin collecting software ever made, with an amazing user interface.

Anyway,
The contest is is technically still active.
I will say I have petty much decided on the winner, but I will not announce it until I launch the site. However, feel free to send me more entries. It can't hurt. I will notify the winner prior to the launch.

Sorry fret, but no, I got technical, no angry. You got called for it and refused to honor the rules of your own contest. You never explained your reasoning and each time you were shown to be at fault you further resisted explanation to justify yourself reasonably per the rules of your contest. You also came off high and mighty sounding in this thread which is a total contradiction given your prior contest handling. According to the statement you made here about gbroke, you do owe an explanation about why you broke the rules and declared a winner before the correct chronological poster posted in that contest.

That's right, fret, I'm not sore. Simply, I am right about this and you cannot admit to your failing but now you want to get off righteous in this thread. Sorry, but I will not let you off the hook. Period.
