what happened to this silver dime

i won this on listia for 2000 credits (pretty much $2)

i took it out of its 2x2 so i could get a better look and decied if i wanted to put it in my collection binder or in my silver lock box

and i seen this not sure what happened or even how
the one in the date is barely visible but i figure thats from wear

Sometimes (back in the old days), people would bite down on a coin to see if it was genuine. Looks like teeth marks to me.

 

Someone used it as a screwdriver.

It probably didn't hurt it's value much, since it's probably worth melt. It's worth about $2.50 according to my 2013 Blue Book. That's the buy price, but I wouldn't think it would sell for any more than the $3.50 you'll see at most coin and antique shops.

 

Boy, if it was bitten by Mighty Mouse it would be Worth too much more..
