What happened to this 1955-s dime? Planchet flaw? Struck through grease?

It wouldn't be struck through grease. If it is a struck through, it would be a foreign object of some type. Or it could be post mint damage, the patina looks different in that area than the rest of the coin.
What does the other side of the coin look like directly opposite?

The other side looks just like any other dime. Don't know how it happened got it out of a 1955-s obw roll. All the other dimes in the roll looked normal.

It looks like PMD to me. Notice the fact that the luster is far different than the rest of the coin.

Is it raised or recessed? If it's raised, it could be a retained strikethrough. If it is recessed, it could have been struck through compacted grease & debris.

It's recessed. My pictures aren't very good but even a little bit of the rim is missing. It looks almost like that spot on the coin is melted looking.
