Can anyone tell me if they've seen this before and could tell me what it is? I've been collecting for a few years now, mostly Morgan's and Peace Dollars but have never seen this. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, and does it increase/decrease the value?

    Thanks,

    Scott

Some sort of folded over Lamination on the edge. A planchet issue.

Thank you! Looks like there was some cracking. Would the lamination error do that?

Probably no real value add, right?

It looks to me that something gouged the edge/rim and transferred silver from the edge and denticles into/onto the field.

None of the usual signs of damage are present even though it looks like it. I believe that there was a lamination error on the edge and when the coin was struck at the mint it caused what you are seeing.
