I found this Morgan Dollar and was wondering what happened to it? At first I thought maybe a grease filled die...then I thought maybe someone plated this with silver....but I can't tell. Any ideas?? Speedy
Is that color correct, is the weight close? Looks like a fake, just doesn't look right around her mouth. Sorry, I just don't know
The whole thing looks kinda weird - almost like it has doubling of some kind. Weigh it - even if you just test it on a balance scale with another Morgan.
When holding another Morgan dollar up next to it this one looks blue...it also doesn't ring like another one....I'll try to get a weight. Speedy
I took it to a dealer today and he weighted it (don't ask me for the weight.....) and said it was just a tad under weight and wasn't a fake...he said that he thinks someone put acid on it... I disagree...I've seen coins that have acid problems and this doesn't look like it... I'm going to keep looking around for this type of thing... Thanks Speedy
