I cannot seem to find a way to access the APMEX web sites which deal with the coins. Does any have the full story? My feeling is that they priced some coins incorrectly and were committed to sell at that price. So they shut down there site/s. Late one night I thought I saw where they were selling $1000.00 bags of 90% silver coins for something like $1800.00. I didn't think too much about it until the next day. Then I said that can't be correct. The melt value would be better than $7000.00. Next thing I know is the site is shut down???????
I would say you have a problem. It took me about 1/4 sec to access that site. BTW, ($1000 Face Value) Bag of 90% Silver Coins = $11,897.60
Site is working fine now. If the $1000 bag you saw was part of their "million ounce sell off" special it was not 90% ..it was 40% silver. The mind does play tricks on you at times.
