I've got several slabbed (ANACS) MS early Washington quarters. I put them on eBay (where I've sold a lot of coins in the past with no problem), and got zero bids. The coins in question are an MS65 1934P light motto, an MS65 1935P, and an MS65 1942S. The light motto '34P in particular is not an easy coin to come by, so I'm a little perplexed at not getting any bids at all. I usually put a starting price of around half of what the current book value is. Any thoughts?? Butch
Well sir, it is just the nature of the business. Now I do not buy nor sell on ebay, but do run a large coin business. Sometimes coins that don't sell one week, will sell like hotcakes the next. It all depends on who is looking and when. A lot of people who sell coins think that certain coins should sell everyday. Well, sometimes it boiles down to knowing who to sell to. Just out of curiousity, what book price are you referring to?
Hmmmm.... I might have been a bidder on these... I flat out missed them... This is a slow time for Ebay, especially with Easter weekend.... All the players were not in the playing field....
I think it is the nature of the beast, I put proof sets up under bid and get double, Place them at bid and get no bids. People will buy what they will, you just have to figure out what they want. You might try a different area instead of putting them unmder quarters place them under mint or proof sets. Not everyone knows how to get to bids ending today so they promptly plac them into items tracked and look 10 days after auction end. always asking them selves why didn't I bid on that it went to cheap. a2J jess
Book prices I used the price guide on the PCGS site as a starting point. I really don't want to sell the coins for considerably less than what they're worth, so I usually put the starting price at about half the PCGS site value. That seemed to work pretty well for most things, although some did go for a good bit less than the current price at PCGS. Other stuff (like 1999 silver proof sets) went for more than double. Go figure. Thanks for the inputs! JH
Don't use PCGS price guide jrh I would go by Coin Value or some other GOOD price list--Even though I have PCGS coins I would not NOT trust them for prices--- The latest CW values for the coins you listed are... 1934p $500.00 1935p $150.00 1942s $200.00 Speedy
jrh i do not sell my coins on e-Bay but I do sell a lot of other types of items. I recommend that your listing end on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. And make sure that you are starting and ending after 9:00 pm. I have done some research that shows that most people are on the internet at these times. Plus, if your listings end at 2:00 PM, most people are working and cannot bid. Hope this helps.
