What exactly is this? DDO? Counter-Clash? Half Dollar Error

Discussion in 'Error Coins' started by Tired-of-Cards, Mar 25, 2013.

  1. There is very obvious doubling to eye, chin & lips...nothing else anywhere else on coin. Wondering EXACTLY what this is? & Value? Thanks 030.jpg 031.jpg 032.jpg 034.jpg 035.jpg

    No value...MDD (Machine Damage Doubling).

Yes, it appears to be machine doubling. Notice it is flat and shelf-like. No added value that I can think of, unless you sell it to someone who collects MD.
    Keep up the hunt!

It's machine doubling but it's not without value. When it's this visible it can bring prices above $10.

Good to know Mr. Diamond. What about extreme die deterioration? Any value there?

Severe die deterioration doesn't have much of a fan base. That said, if it gets truly extreme so that design features are no longer recognizable, that would attract some interest. Be advised that I'm talking about conventional die deterioration and not soft die errors or die subsidence errors, which are indicative of some underlying die flaw.

Mike, I hope you don't mind me adding this link. I know if you did , some might complain of self promotion. I venture to guess that very few on CT knows to what these terms refer.
