This has probably been asked before but I'm curiions. Why do you collect what you collect and how in the world can you be so meticulous? I DO NOT mean this to offend anyone. On the contrary I admire it as I just don't have the patience to do it. These are the types of errors I like because they jump right out at you. http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x275/clembo1872/scan0015-1.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x275/clembo1872/scan0016-1.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x275/clembo1872/scan0004-1.jpg Now, I'd love to have a 1955 Double Die Lincoln. Great error and easy to see. It's the minor ones that take magnification to spot that make me wonder and admire you error collectors. I DO have a few 1995 DDO that I bought cheap and will admit, in a heartbeat, that when it comes to 2 Cent Pieces they go on the scope after the 16X loupe. Some of the errors I see mentioned though are so minute it honeslty befuddles me as to why people get excited over them. Just picking your brains I guess. Respectully, clembo
clembo: First, that $ is great! second: I collect errors that appeal to me. As far as varieties, as opposed to errors: I enjoy finding RPM's, RPD's, and doubled die on all series of Barber (if you couldn't guess). So far I have added dozens of listing to known ones. So, for me, it is the thrill of being the first to recognize something. Like the 1909S Barber half dollar with the inverted Mintmark, first listed in Coin World, now in CherryPickers guide-- no credit for it of course. I have two other inverted MM's that I'll be submitting shortly to Coin World, and NOT to Cherrypickers. They only give ya credit if you are one of the 'in crowd'.
Speaking of errors What do you think of this one? One of my favorites. Broadstrike, offcenter, doublestruck.
What's wrong with it? Love it as it's my kind of error. I admitted I pore over my Two Cent pieces as you do your Barbers. I spotted the RPM on the Two Cent post the other day then you confirmed it. Difference to me is that one was obvious on a scan and not horribly blown up. Just happens to me MY coin of choice. I'm just picking brains here. clembo
Geez Frank, is that your coin? Wow. :thumb: I like Lincoln cent RPMs, Lamination errors, and some other things I can't think of at the moment. Phoenix
