    How about some Depression Scrip?

$5.00 note from Thomas A. Edison, Inc. of Orange, NJ. The signature is his son Charles Edison.

This is a cool piece of Script history...while there are many Script issues out there, I suppose supply and demand will rule these as well. Thanks for sharing that! Nice Script.

Depression Scrip is one of the more overlooked areas of US paper money collecting. There are thousands of varieties out there. Most issues have limited availability although there are exceptions (Fostoria OH, most NJ notes, Guilford NC, etc.) Most pieces are available for under $50.00 because the demand is low. I have the 1.00 Edison piece also. They ran me about $30.00 each.

Although there are a few collectors who pursue the broad spectrum of issues, most collectors concentrate on a geograpic area, hometown or home state, sort of like Nationals.

These are listed in the Standard Catalog of Depression Scrip by Ralph Mitchell and Neil Shafer. It is long out of print (1984, I think) and the pricing is obsolete but it is the only comprehensive reference for these notes.
