I'm no pro but the toning does not look natural IMO.

 

The toning gives the coin good character. I like it very much.

 

It looks cool, maybe artificial toning though, its a bit extreme. Whats the difference on an SAE though, I like it!

 

Nice , looks like one someone gave my sister that kept it wrapped in a napkin for a couple years . I like it .

 

Looks a bit AT to me but that don't mean much cause I'm not an expert or anything. It looks like it was graded by PCGS so maybe it's totally naturally toned. After all, PCGS has their sniffer machine to kick out the AT's. Hopefully they used it on your coin and you ended up with a beautiful NT ASE. :thumb:

I like that coin, in general I like blue toning on ASEs. Could that be artificial toning? Sure, but I don't think it's garishly so, like many coins you see on ebay from a certain sellers that have obviously been artificially toned.

The pattern reminds me of some of the album toning you see on ASEs and other coins.

Here's another blue toned ASE I picked up earlier this year. The color progression appears the same or very close, although my coin doesn't have the nice concentric circles that the one you posted does.

 

Yup or it the Planchet Wash the mint was using on the planchet back in 1988.
Again in 2000 thru 2002 their was toning due the Wash the mint was using but a lot more coins were affected with that type Wash

 

I don't like all the spots on the obverse, and the reverse is unattractive.

I like it... FWIW, you can still get a True View of a Genuine/Details coin, so that doesn't give it away in regards to AT or NT. I'm going to guess PCGS saw it as NT and that whoever put that coin in the album long ago, sneezed or coughed before the slide cover was completely back over the coin

 

I like the coloring on the OBV, the REV is a little blah but doesn't ruin it for me. The spots do detract a little as I'm not one for "mottled" toning, much rather it be uniform but its nothing that would prevent me from keeping it. I wouldn't mind having it in the collection, but I don't think I'd go out of my way to spend a bunch acquiring it.

I'd lean towards NT, or at the very least not purposefully doctored like I've seen some coins. I'm no expert but I have no problem with the way it looks.

 

Details - questionable toning.

 

I like it. The bluish toning is both attractive and inviting.

I wouldn't pay extra for it though..........:devil:

 

Actually, I take that back. A quick search gave me a handful of coins with similar toning patterns that PCGS saw fit to grade, so evidently it's market acceptable.

Personally, I like the coin, but I wouldn't spend a huge premium on it just for the color.

 

I like the reverse because it doesn't show the obverse's toning. That would raise even more red flags, correct?
