Hmmm... My initials are DJC and I designed that Rhode Island state quarter. But I ddn't start this thread. Strange coincidence.
c'mon guys... the montana quarter has a SCULL on it!!!!!!!! how more exciting do you need??? IT'S A SCULL!!!
I think I like you! Alaska is a very cool state quarter and I think it represents us well! Gotta love the Bear eating a salmon!!
one thing I have always loved about the internet: You can have a LARGE group of people from many places of one interest. Usually, I have found that having guys like Bill Favaz and Daniel Carr in our internet groups show exactly the quality of knowledge being shared. For these "celebrities" in our midst, it's nice for them because there is still a large degree of anonimity. Most people treat them like regular folk except for the occasional WOW! That's HIM??? (or HER???) Occasionally we actually build relationships with them. I try to learn from everyone I speak to, and treat everyone as if they may be someone like them. You never know and at times I have not known that I was speaking to an author or top expert when just speaking MY opinions and pontifications on their area of expertise. Funny thing is, they never laughed at what I had to say. Well, at least not to my face. And I have learned tons. Cool, isn't it??? I am so glad I came back to this forum! Oh, and BTW in answer to the actual thread...my personal favorite is Colorado, no offense, Mr. Carr
Shoulda been Missouri with what they had to start with. Jackson's original design is somewhere on his web site: http://www.pauljackson.com/ The Mint said his design was too complicated, but look how much better the National Collector Mint did than the U.S. Mint did: http://www.nationalcollectorsmint.com/product.jsp?path=-1|1751&id=1640 Kansas was my favorite at the time of its release, but I'd have to go with Nevada or South Dakota.
I quite like Montana's. From some reason, I like Nevada's a lot, too, although I usually don't like such "busy" designs. Any quarter that incorporates the outline of the state into the design automatically falls onto my "yuck" list.
