What do you think I will get for this coin?

I bought this awhile back for $65, bought it because tone around rim was nice. Whas told tone came from being inside a flip holder for a long period of time. Is this true? If not, what caused this?

    EDITED--no self promotion

    Any info would be appreciated,
    Jase.

Toning in franklin halves is pretty common considering they have a high silver conent, being in a flip for so long is most likley why it has the toning around the edge and not the entire surface (access to airflow has an effect on toning) so it seems pretty normal for the story given. But remember that things in the air allways have an effect on toning, unless the coin is in an airtight container that has nothing reactive in it you will get toning... and after a while even that can be compromised to some point, so toning is inevitable. Nice coin by the way!

    Thanks for the info!

If you don't mind... I will add quote that in my item description.

Do you think I will get the $65 back I paid for it?

    Jase.

I would be honored to be quoted! As far as price... hold on let me check... on ebay I only see three on ebay, one is a buy it now for $150, one is going for $21 and is in an ICG holder with about 18 hours left. I wish I had my greysheet right now but I seemed to have misplaced it I could tell you what the retail price on it is (which is slightly lower than what you will probably realize on it). However I am sure someone else on this forum can look it up and let you know.

    *Update*
I see a completed auction that went for $60, so you may break even, with ebay you never know.

pcgs price guide which I do not follow strictly has the coin pr-68 at $165.00 I would imagine this coin would sell for at least 100 dollars on ebay if listed correctly!!

Looks like there is a huge gash in the lower half of the bust on the obverse. The line is suppose to be there , but it doesn't look right to me. That should knock it down a few points. Also looks like a hairline on the cheek. Maybe just lint , but hairlines are no no's on a proof coin. They should be unnoticeable without magnification at PR68 levels.

Not to mention it has a crack in the bell. Good Luck in your auction. I think you will do ok with it. Why not do a buy it now auction with it though?
