I was searching for coins for my son and saw the glow in the dark dinosaur coin. It was $30 and sold out, and is now going for $100-$185 on other sites. But this coin, as well as others like the Santa and Star Wars coins, do you think they're worth purchasing? Are these cheap coins with stickers glued on, or is more care involved? Do any of you purchase these type of coins or do you generally stay away from them?
They're nice, but not my taste. I heard something about those glow-in-the dark coins going to fetch a premium, I think Matt snatched a few up while he could for $30
The precious metals coins are beautiful. I saw the set a lot of you were purchasing back in February, 2012. Really nice. In my research I came across people who advised not to buy certain sets of commemorative coins (not issued by the US Mint) because they were 50 cent pieces with stuff glued to them. I didn't know what the RCM coins were similar, like something glued onto a regular Canadian quarter, so I thought I'd ask. But I guess they're legit. My son and I got a 1918-2008 Armistice Quarter in a roll of American quarters we picked up at the bank, and it's one of his favorite coins.
So far I've loved most of the silver coins I have seen from RCM but have only bought 1 that i just couldn't resist. Here is the photo from the mint which does not do the coin justice. the butterfly is a hologram etched into the silver and is spectacular in hand, it just doesn't photograph well (only real good pic i've seen is copywrited and I won't post that one)
