found a 1940 wheatie at work today..it is bizarre to say the least. You will see lots of different color shades and they are in the copper metal itself and not surface. I examined it under different lighting, magified, wet etc etc. Under magnifier, you can actually see the different swirls/marks of color and its both sides of the coin. There are some areas that remind of rock hunting when I was a kid..lol I know, your going to tell me its old, worn, dirty but you defintely have to see it. The color swirls are definitely in the copper itself. I will try to get scanned pics this weekend
Looks like a coin that gets pulled out of an ashtray in a car when you REALLY need that pack of smokes!
Cindy, you'd be better off putting that back into circulation the next time you head south across the border into America. Aidan.
Dan,why spend it in Canada as it isn't even legal tender there? I can understand if the coin was Canadian instead of American though. Aidan.
American cents are found quite often up here. In fact, I have found more wheat cents in circulation in the 4 1/2 years I've lived in Canada, than I ever found in almost 30 years in the US.
Sure, Barbados, Bahamas, Euro cents. Not all that often, but certainly enough to check your change. I even got a couple of British 20p in a roll of nickels once. That's a tidy little profit! LOL
Aidan...Amercan coins we just use them like canadian coin and there is quite a bit here in circulation. Other countries though, we pull them from the cash. Not only did I get the euro this week but also 10 pence from UK and twenty five cent Barbados
take a look at these. these have definalty seen better days. i've gotton these out of the wheat cent rolls from my coin dealer. the first ones a 1919, the second is a 192?, the third is a steel cent, the fourth is a 1949D, and the fifth one is a 1936.
When you're near the border it's pretty much interchangeable Aidan. I'm about 400 miles from the border so they don't go over as well here but I have found a few Mountie Quarters in the past.
I get canadian coins all the time in pocket change or out of rolls from the bank. The problem is if i get 3 or 4 Canadian Cents from a roll, i cannot put them back into the roll and redeem them. I'm basically losing money. I have about $15 in Canadian coins just sitting in a bag waiting for me to head back to Montreal
You puttin' on the foil, Clembo ? You will get put in the box and feel shame. Amazing, I'm getting all your quotes.
