Just a coin I forgot about. Anyone care to maybe guess or know as to what it is? DD? MD? Your guess is probably better than mine.

Nope. It isnt flat. I do know that I need to get better camera but it has very nice tall points and is. Believe it or not a pretty flawless coin. Especially for being almost 60 yrs old. Ill post a pic of entire coin

No, I see no notches there. I agree it is MD as the "doubled appearing" part is shelf like. When the working die is struck by the hub and make a "doubled die", each impression should be of similar depth ( maybe not exact as the die has to be annealed between), but not one normal and one thin and flattened. Below is a 1936 DDO of mine showing the "notches". Notice that each impression is close to the same depth.

Well thank u very much. I am sorta new to varieties as I was blessed with the ability to get the more rare key date date coins. I almost wish that I had bought bags of silver and or gold and gone for "the hunt". I find that the learning experience is just plainly fun. Also I'm very happy to see that some of the '36s i have found are real. I didnt have too much doubt though as they are in AU or MS quality. Again thank you make very much and I hope to be able to contribute to a young person learning as you have done. Take care
