What do you make of this dime?

I found this in change and it is really strange. Since it is 24 years old, I don't know whether or not it happened during the minting process. On the reverse, the "E" is dime is nearly gone. On the front, the rim is rounded on the left and gone on the right.

What do you make of this?

My guess is the die filled with grease where the letter e in dime would be , thus prevented the metal to flow up into the die to form the letter .

Grease filled die on the reverse and misaligned die on the obverse.

I guess, then, that it is a common error not worth much of a premium if anything. Correct?

Even so, it is really interesting...
