^^^ To me, the 1983 penny. The vast majority of them are in bad condition, I save them if they are in good condition (BU) and the edge makes me always think it's a wheat penny! So annoying
If they are stale, at least it is an old roll. If it is fresh, you know it's been picked through recently.
Pennies that look like Edited.Language I get lots of them. -John John , check out the rules. We have stricter language rules than some other coin forums. as we encourage youngsters to read and participate. The Rules
What people are mentioning in this thread about ugly Zincolns is an accurate prediction of what EVERY one of the modern zinc pennies will look like in 2115. I'm going to take a nice 2015 penny and start keeping it in an airtite.
Finding all the Kennedy halves that have been damaged by counting and rolling machines. Oh... and all the ones that have been beat up by years of slot machine use too.
Batteries always annoy me, have a few in a bag is not a big deal but when you have a whole handful in a bag that gets old fast.
Have you ever found a situation where you bought a box of coins and the majority were brand-new, current-year coins? I've never had that happen to me, but I was wondering. Someone on the WG? forums by the name of Thomas253 bought a box of pennies in 2013 and 96% of the coins were brand-new 2013D pennies.
Well it depends if you're talking an actual coin, it would be the British 5 pences in dime rolls. Most of the foreign coins you find in dimes rolls don't look like silver dimes because the edges are far to sharp and bright. However the 5 pences looks just like a circulated silver dime. As for a whole set of coins it would have to be when I got a solid box of 2014 cents. As for non coin items, a dog treat has to take the cake.
Oh, damaged coins - rotted out cents, bent coins, holed coins - and newer Canadian cents and five cents that are steel.
Canadian coins. I feel like I'm getting gypped a little each time I pull the Queen out of a roll of dead Presidents... I also dislike opening up solid boxes of new coins. This seems to happen with increasing regularity for me...
I just don't like the steel cents and five cent coins. Otherwise the cents up until 1978 have a bit more bronze in them than the USA cents, their five cents up until 1981 are pure nickel. Besides, one of my best roll finds ever is a 1925 GV cent, worth about $50 in EF. I regularly find GVI cents in roll searches, ie NE of the USA.
I get so many Canadians that I finally broke down and bought a Canada cents folder, so it gives me something else to collect. It's a longshot, but I think it'd be kinda neat to compile a complete set of Canadian pennies pulled from American circulation.
