i collect everything from the united states. coins and notes. i absolutly hate ancient and forign coins and notes. they go into a bag and to the coin dealer.
Well I am a bit of a magpie, I collect trading Cards (Hockey/Baseball/Non Sport) Coins (German/British/Commonwealth/French/Celtic/Roman/other old uns LOL) now Banknotes (German/British/USA/Hell Notes/Austro Hungarian/Notgeld), Batman bits from figures/comics to cars and of course must not neglect my Medals & Tokens or my Bullion LOL then I have a small collection of US Civil War Bullets (all dropped varaieties) Autographs (I use to sell em) & Stamps sure that I have missed a few bits somewhere LOL
World coins by KM# US cents, nickels, dimes, SQs, probably do the presidents, too. Canada cents, nickels, dimes, commemmorative quarters GB pre-decimal pennies and musical instruments.
I had to vote U.S. coins, because that is mainly what I collect. But I get a little bit of everything.
I collect anything old I can get my hands on. Mostly pre-civil war for my coins and bottles. I also collect and repair vintage paintball markers.
Half my collection is US coins, the other half is a mix of ancient and foreign coins. I also collect stamps.
Jerome,I'm a specialist in the British Commonwealth numismatic field. You're not wrong about the coins of King James II of England & Ireland,& the coins of King James VII of Scotland being tough to find.I have got 3 Maundy coins & a holed example of an Irish Gunmoney Sixpence (6d.) in my collection. I read this month's edition of Token Publishing's 'Coin News' to see the column that mentions your competition win.I think buying an Irish Gunmoney 1/2 Crown (2/6) is a very good idea,as that series of coins is very tough to get represented, considering that it is both the Irish & the British Commonwealth numismatists who are buying them up. Aidan.
U.S. Type and more I would have to say that I'm all over the U.S. spectrum. Love the odd denomination type coins. Not into proofs but love the business strikes. Have five sets of 2 Cent pieces from small motto through 1872. Now pecking away at 3 Cent Nickels, 3 Cent Silver and 20 Cent pieces. Also love the half cent, Standing Liberty quarter and key and semi key Barbers (that I can afford). Have done my share of currency as well, much of it pulled out of circulation. Have a few hundred web notes, a couple THOUSAND Fort Worth 295 errors, star notes up the wazoo and some really cool errors. As for world stuff I DO like Canadian nickels and own some German Notgeld. I could continue but let's just say I like money!
I have to say that 99% of my collection is U.S. coins. The small amount of World coins that I have go into a 3 ring binder and therefore become my daughters collection. I also collect autographs of Brooklyn Dodgers, Hollywood celebs and politicians.
At the moment I am concentrating on my Canadian collection but I grab any US coins I like the look of or any world silver as well!!
