of our photographer's work? I didn't take these photos. Do you think you could come up with a close grade with these photos? Do you see the die clash on the Mercury Dime?
Looks like "Photograde" to me. These photos tell me much of what I would want to know about a coin before purchasing. However, I've always felt that coin photos meant for "grading" online should be accompanied by a stabilized video of the coin being tilted, in right lighting of course, to show off the luster.
These photos are well above average, but there is plenty of room for improvement. My opinion: the images are overlit. There is zero contrast, and the coins appear too bright. Try reducing the light, and reduce the number of lights. There are advantages to using the technique you have shown (you can see almost every flaw in the surface [which would tend to exaggerate the flaws, and lead buyers to guess a lower grade than it is]), but I have absolutely zero idea what the luster looks like (if any). This technique can also be useful sometimes to show toning, especially on proof coins. However, I would not want most of my pictures to have this look. Again, just my opinion. I would much rather have these pictures than much of what you see on Ebay.
