    Hi there,

Condition is the state of preservation that the coin is in today. This is numbered from 1 to 70. The higher the number the better condition of the coin, and therefor the higher the price.

You should visit a book store and look for a book called "A guide book of United States Coins" by R.S. Yeoman. It is commonly referred to as the Red Book. This referrence book will teach you many things. DO NOT go by the prices in this book however. They are high end retail prices.

Those letter and number combinations are known as grades. To put it in simple terms a coin's grade is an indication of it's condition of preservation.

We'd be glad to help you grade your coins. Can you post pics?

    BTW, welcome!

Short answer is no. It really is an opinion. Some opinions are more eduated than others but someone will always disagree. Differences in grade most often depend on if your buying or selling. :D
