A friend of mine maybe twenty $2 bills from I think the fifties. Yes, I know this sounds " maybe, I think, I guess" but I'm asking for him so that he may be able to figure out whether he has anything of value. I did tell him condition was very important and not to fold them ever. So what diagnostics can he use to tell him something about what he has. Thanks zeke:smile
post the series date, serials numbers - any stars? and post a picture or two of the average grade or condition. from that info, we could come up with an approximate value.
Okay, I'll have him look at all of the above and I'll post the findings with some pics. Much thanks. This thread will be on going. zeke
We will keep our eyes peeled for future scans/information Zeke. Have YOU seen them yet ? Are they RED seals ?
No I haven't seen his $2 bills yet but I gave him a printout from what has transpired above and also gave him printouts of the history of $2 bills with pictures. I really hope he has old ones with Monticello on the reverse in AU condition. ALSO will have him look for red seals, copy serial numbers(hope he has two or three in sequence), and series dates. I'll even loan him my digital camera so he can take pics and I'll put them on here. He lives in the same apt. bldg. as I do so hopefully I can get this info to all of you soon....zeke
Even if they are 1953 or 1963 they pretty much have to be unc to be worth much of anything, so do some research before you make a offer and keep in mind that paper money books tend to be high on their values.
I am not interested in buying them from him. He just wants to know what they might be worth. The info I gave him will give him a fair idea of that. He didn't really make an effort to find out until he found that I collect LMC's and he mentioned them. That piqued my interest in them for him to see what they might be worth. As yet I don't know anything else.
