I have a 1922 peace dolled passed down from my great grandmother to me. I put it in a case when I got it. It's been in the family for a while and looks like it's still in pretty good condition, except for scratches on the coin. What do you think the estimated condition is ?
High XF, maybe a low AU. Hard to see from the pics. I like that you had the sense to stick it in a case somewhere rather than polishing it up.
If it's from your Great Grandmother , it's priceless . I'd put it in a nice holder like Intercept Shield or an Airtite and write how you got it and keep her in the family forever . It's a beautiful coin no matter what it's worth . Also like OldGoldGuy said , never clean it . Maybe that should be written in the note too .
I know, I collect coins, I'm never going to sell anything that is THAT important to me. I have a 1921 s buffalo nickel that my grandfather found in the glove compartment of a 1939 Mercury(a car) that he was restoring. It's worth a decent amount, he passed away 2 years ago I am never going to sell it
