    Hi

Sorry can not post picture my father is a metal detecting freak, so to speak and he often finds coins. Located in the UK, but he recently found a coin, which my mother says has no head on it but it does have what told them was Spanish Publica Commoditas date 1779 and it is copper.

what is it? What is its value? How do you suspect it got to the UK? Pretty sure he found it in a field so it probably had been dropped there, no idea
    Cheers

I think it's Italian, not Spanish. But I haven't been able to pin it down yet.

All of my searches lead to Naples, but the 1779 date doesn't work. Could it be 1792? What's the diameter?

I forgot to add some info

    Hi Thanks for that

Had thought that it might be Italian or Spanish, you might be right on the date, not sure of diameter but forgot to add that it has an open winged eagle on the other side or Griffin...does that help?

    thanks
